Senior project manager –
the annuity board of the southern baptist convention (Guidestone)

ABOUT THE ANNUITY BOARD
GuideStone was founded in 1918 and began its work as a relief organization, providing retirement assistance to ministers, workers, their widows, and orphans. As of December 31, 2007, GuideStone manages over $10 billion in assets, providing a solid foundation to continue this Christian retirement assistance legacy through its Adopt An Annuitant ministry. GuideStone provides this money to ensure that those who serve the Lord can retire with dignity and protection from financial disaster in the event of illness, injury, disability, or death. This retirement assistance is made possible by direct gifts from churches and individuals, and with the generous support of Southern Baptists through the Cooperative Program.

Established as a financial partner of the Southern Baptist Convention, GuideStone has been a leader for almost nine decades in providing employee benefit plans to more than 36,000 churches, ministries, hospitals, and educational institutions. Since 1918, GuideStone has enhanced the retirement security of more than 180,000 ministers, employees and seminary students. And as a Christian-based organization, GuideStone has also been able to provide retirement assistance to these same individuals in times of crisis and need.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Gabe quickly rose through the ranks of the Annuity Board and before long he was managing several mission critical functions including the implementation of Mutual Funds, Y2K, and a complete system overhaul. His projects were extremly important to the organizations future.

Prior to project manager, Gabe was a Business Analyst and then Lead Business Analyst. He was in charge of an extensive database of system defects. His team was charged with organizing, ranking, and creating work arounds, system adjustments and prebatch processes for eliminating the frequent Night Process failures that were the result of an unstable retirement processing system purchased from SunGard Data Systems. Gabe and his team provided 24 hour oncall support for system failures and were responsible for making the call to restore prior night data, or to continue the current running process for operation of the next days business. Gabe was an active member of the SunGard user community and attended many events in an effort to improve the Annuity Boards leverage with SunGard and to improve the stability of the Board's mission critical systems.

Gabe was also integral in introducing Participant Loans to the Annuity Board, as he helped lead the team responsible for its development and implementation. Gabe performed all these duties while simultaneously acting as Financial Operations Principal for Rockcrest Securities.
